YOUTUBE SAFETY

As most of you are aware there have been concerns recently with what children are able to access online, more specifically via YouTube. We now have a parent fact sheet which highlights how you can keep your child safe on YouTube and also online. You can find the fact sheet here under our safeguarding documents.

PUPIL PERCEPTION SURVEY RESULTS

These are the results of the Pupil Perception Survery with Year's 4 and 6. There were three areas in which there was more strong disagreement. These were within smoking and drug education. D-Side will be coming into school, in June, to carry out sessions surrounding these areas. Sex education sessions will take place during the Summer 2 half-term. We will look at the after school clubs in September and try to add some of the clubs which the childre suggested.

EXTREME BIKE SHOW!

On 20th March, 2019 we have some exciting visitors in school. The Education Group will be in school giving an extreme biking performance. The cost per child is £1 and needs to be passed to your child's class teacher along with a consent slip. If you do not have a consent slip please let us know.

"European and British champions will showcase their amazing stunts and talents.

Whilst exhilarating the children with their daring stunts, the team communicate key messages around road safety, anti-bullying, wellness and what it takes to be a champion. This inspires children to be active!"

Take a look at the video below for a taster!

SCHOOL COUNCIL
Yesterday, Monday 21st January, our school council visited Elland Road to give their opinions on how money in leeds should be spent on children.
They also had a lot of fun whilst they were there! Well done!

WELCOME BACK!

A huge welcome back to everyone after the Christmas break. All of the children came back, eager to start their learning again, with smiles on their faces! It was great to hear all about their Christmas experiences and how much fun they had all had.
As a special reward to all of the children, throughout school, who achieved 100% attendance and punctuality for the two weeks leading up to the Christmas break we provided a DVD and popcorn afternoon on our first day back. All of the children really enjoyed it!

We have our next attendance and puntuality challenge during the last two weeks of this term. Every child who achieves 100% attendance and punctuality during that time will earn a special reward on the first day of our summer term!

IMPORTANT INFORMATION FOR PARENT/CARERS.

We have been alerted about some serious concerns with the online game Fortnite. A copy of the letter can be found here - Fortnite

Most children are now playing online games, whether that be via Xbox, PS4, Laptop, phone or tablet. Most of these games are on an online platform and this can cause risks. You can minimise these risks by following a few steps and adding parental controls so that you can monitor what your child is doing and who they are talking to. We’ve taken the time to compile some links, for the various consoles, to explain how to do  this.

We have also taken the time to provide some links for how to use parental controls On XBox One and PS4.

XBox One
PS4

You can also download the XBox Beta app on any phone, laptop or tablet. Once you log into your childs account on the app you can see all messages, contacts and friends added. You can do this here - XBox Beta

CLASS 12's SPACE TOPIC

Class 12 have been working really hard on their Space Topic.  A large number of children set themselves their own homework and made their own Solar Systems at home and bought them into school.  Miss Smith was so impressed that she asked me (Miss Williams) to come and look at their creations!   I was so impressed with their creativity and hard work - we agreed that Class 12 should have a party as a 'thank you'.  Well done, Class 12!
Here are some photo's of their creations!
